Back to it!

Well traveling proves to be a bit harder than i thought when trying to eat well and stay on a good diet. The past week(ish) was not quite as successful as I had hoped, BUT i did manage to watch portions mainly, and if I did not eat well earlier in the day, I made sure to be extra vigilant in watching portions and trying to select things that were healthier.

I also did not get to go on my runs/walks as I wanted since the weather was downright nasty but we're getting back to it this week. My plan is to start P90x again and get it done with Dax takes his afternoon nap. We'll go on our walk/run after his first morning nap.

I'm planning on going to the weight watchers meeting this week and getting my first official weigh-in. Instead of dreading it, I am embracing it and thinking about the first 10% I am going to work hard to lose. After I reach that goal, I will throw away my "fat" jeans and buy a few new pairs of jeans. Reward with clothes (or the like), instead of with food.

Do you have any suggestions for how to eat healthier when traveling? We're on the road A LOT and there aren't many healthy options when trying to stop quickly and get back to our destination. I'll be in Austin for close to a month without traveling (THANK GOODNESS) so I'm hoping to see some major results since I can stick to a schedule better!

when I did WW I use to have an amazing leader who would always tell us whenever you are traveling, carry your own snacks. So I would. Those gas stations would call to me, but I'd ignore it. I'd always carry apples, bananas, 100 calorie packs, whatever salty I thought I'd crave. Lots of water. That makes the drives easier.

P90X?!?! You go girl! I don't think I could ever get thru those, but I know people that have, more power to them, and if you're saying AGAIN- then go for it! You never know, Dax may want to do it with you.

And rewards are great. I'd reward myself with a manicure after 5lbs, or a massage after 20. There was 1 lady in our group meeting that gave herself a sticker for every 5 lbs she lost on a bookmark, seeing all those stickers was an inspiration to her and everyone else. Whatever works for you- do it!

Pack yourself a little cooler with water, sliced fruit, and sandwich fixings (I can't stand eating a soggy sandwich that has been premade an just sitting in an ice chest) . Get yourself some fiber one 90 cal bars or something like that to help if you have a sweet tooth. We almost always try to pack a cooler whenever we travel to try to keep from eating out because of the added expense. Keep snacks in your car that won't go bad (pretzels, nuts) so if you do get hungry, you have something handy and won't stop at a drive thru. Good luck girl!

One thing we do when we travel 6 hours to Denver is stop at a healthy grocery store before we leave and buy everything we will eat on the way. Lots of snacks mostly, snacking the entire way keeps us satisfied. It also saves us money, as you know all that fast food adds up quickly. We make it a point to not stop and get food. It also works wonders when traveling with small children too, keeps their mouths full so they can't scream!lol. We buy things like whole fruit, raw almonds, hummus with whole grain crackers, granola, cheese, lots of water.

I work out at a gym that has a nursery but it is only open from 9 to 12. It does limit the classes I can take but it also makes me go at that time since that is the only time I have a sitter for Violet. Monday thru Friday, working out is literally a part of my routine. I take a class everyday, I prefer a class setting rather then working out on my own. I feel a get a way more intense workout this way and I can not slack off. I hope this helps. Until I made working out a part of my daily routine, I was not consistent with it. I wake up, get us dressed, eat breakfast, then go straight to the gym. Try it, it is the best thing I have figured out so far with getting great exercise. Plus, working out early in the day makes me more aware of what I put in my body during the day.

That's a great idea with the snacks and the rewards Kaliste!

Yes I *LOVE* P90x! It's REALLLLLLY hard but i love the intensity of it (you know my personality so it fits well lol) Dax just might! Maybe i'll try it with him awake and see! LOL!

I think I might do the massage after 20lbs! THANKS!

Theresa those are great ideas too! I can't stand a soggy sandwich either lol And we always bring a cooler for Dax's almond milk and his juice, etc., so it would be easy to pack some extra things in it! Thanks girlie!

Taryn, I've been wanting to check out prices at the health food store. We also have a regular grocery store here that has health food sections (really good ones too) so maybe I'll check those too! I know sometimes prices are higher but if it's especially good for you then it's worth it!

I told J the other night after looking at your wedding photos, that you looked AMAZING for your wedding and I was wondering how in the world you worked out with Violet! I will check into something similar. I really want to find some pilates classes, but of course finding a sitter is always the hard part! Thanks love!
